Student Residence Permit in Turkey
A student residence permit is regulated in articles 38 to 41 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458. In addition, a student residence permit is regulated in Articles 35 to 39 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
Who are the Foreigners for whom a Student Residence Permit Can be Issued?
– Foreigners who will study at primary and secondary level who do not have a family residence permit (Foreigners who will study at primary and secondary level with a family residence permit can continue their education until the age of 18 without the need to obtain a residence permit. However, students who have reached the age of 18 and are still continuing their education at the secondary level must obtain a residence permit.),
– For foreigners who will study at associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, doctorate, Specialty Education in Medicine (TUS), Specialty Education in Dentistry (DUS) levels at a higher education institution in our country,
a student residence permit can be arranged.
The student residence permit provides the right to be supportive only to the spouse and children of the student in family residence permit applications. It does not provide other relatives with any rights to obtain a residence permit.
For How Many Years Can a Student Residence Permit Be Issued?
If the study period of a foreign student is less than one year, the duration of the student residence permit cannot exceed the study period.
A residence permit may be granted to foreigners who will study in Turkey by coming through public institutions and organizations during their education.
The first degree of care and costs for studying strangers undertaken by a natural or legal person, with the consent of parents or legal representatives, their course of study during one-year period and can be renewed with a student residence permit may be granted.
What are the Student Residence Permit Conditions?
In order for the student residence permit to be issued, foreigners must meet the conditions set out in Article 39 of the Law.
-To submit supporting information and documents related to the purpose of staying in Turkey (Article 38 of the Law),
-Not to fall within the scope of Article 7 of the said Law,
-To provide the address information where he will stay in Turkey,
What are the reasons for the Refusal, Cancellation or Non-Extension of the Student Residence Permit?
– Failure to meet or disappearance of the conditions required for the issuance of a student residence permit,
– The emergence of evidence that he will not be able to continue his education,
– Determination that the student residence permit is used outside the purpose of issuance,
– There is a valid deportation decision or a ban on entry to Turkey,
in their case, a short-term residence permit is not granted, if granted, it is canceled, those whose term expires are not extended.
